  • Spanish train Talgo commenced its second phase trial from Mathura at 120 km per hour speed
  • The train covered 84 km distance from Mathura to Palwal
  • The trial between Mathura and Palwal will go on for 25 days
  • Hauled by a 4,500 HP diesel engine, Talgo coaches are lightweight and designed in a way that it can run on curves without decelerating the speed
  • The train speed will go up to 180 km/hr this time
  • A team of Spanish officials along with railways officials and experts from Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) were present onboard during the trial

Nirmala Sitharaman to lead business delegation to Russia

    NATO Summit 2016 concluded in Warsaw 
    • The 2-day long NATO Summit concluded on 9 July 2016 in Warsaw, Poland. 
    • It was the 27th summit biannual summit of NATO since its inception in 1949.
    • The summit was attended by Heads of State and Heads of Government of NATO members including the USA President Barack Obama, Polish president Andrzej Duda and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg
    • Besides, the summit also saw the presence of Heads of Government of non-member States and organizations of NATO including Afghanistan
    The agenda of the biannual summit:
    • The situation in Eastern Europe
    • The risks emanating from the Middle East
    • Reform of NATO’s partnership policy
    • Question of enlargement
    • Debate about the future nuclear strategy of the Alliance

    At the end of the summit, the leaders agreed to deploy more troops along its eastern borders in Poland and Estonia. Besides, the leaders also supported Georgia’s membership aspirations.

      Serena William wins Women’s Singles; equals Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slams

      Serena Williams won a historic 22nd Grand Slam title defeating German professional tennis player Angelique Kerber by 7-5, 6-3 in the Wimbledon held at London.
      Serena employed first strike tennis going for the big serves and groundstroke winners early. Williams ended up winning the shorter rallies 51-33. While Kerber did better as the rallies went longer winning the rally exchange 5 shots and over 27-21.
