India's first 'Women Entrepreneurs Park' to come up in Uttarakhand
  • The country's first of its kind industrial park, exclusively for women entrepreneurs, was launched by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat at the Federation House.
  • The event was organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO)
  • The park will be located in Uttarakhand's Sitarganj district
  • The park will be 'Next Investment Destination' for women
  • The park will be spread over 200 acres, is expected to attract women entrepreneurs and help them to initiate start-ups in the state.
About Industrial Park:
It is a part of a city or town which is zoned for industrial purpose. Industrial parks may consists of oil refineries, ports, warehouses, distribution centers, chemical plants, plastics manufacturers, airports, food and beverage processors, and steel manufacturers. Actually an industrial park can be imagined of as a more “heavyweight” version of a business park, which has offices and light industry, rather than heavy industry.

MP becomes first state to have 'Happiness Department'

  • Madhya Pradesh today became the first state in the country to set up 'Happiness Department'
  • It will work to ensure "happiness in the lives of common people" on the lines of Bhutan
  • The CM chouuhan will head the department
  • The Department includes a chairman, a CEO, a director each for Research and Coordination and an accounts officer, four posts of Research Assistant, six Junior Assistant and five peons

    RBI asks banks to exchange upto 20 soiled notes free of charge


    • In an effort to improve customer service, RBI today asked banks to exchange up to 20 pieces of soiled currency notes with a maximum value of Rs 5,000 over the counter free of charge
    • However, if the number of notes to be exchanged is more than 20, banks can levy service charge
    • Where the number of notes presented by a person is up to 20 pieces with a maximum value of Rs 5000 per day, banks should exchange them over the counter, free of charge
    • In case notes are presented in bulk where the number exceeds 20 pieces or Rs 5,000 in value per day than banks will accept them, against receipt, for value to be credited later
    • The RBI also laid down norms for non-chest branches for exchange of soiled notes.
    Where the number of notes presented by a person is up to 5 pieces per day, non-chest branches should normally adjudicate the notes as per the procedure and pay the exchange value over the counter

    DRDO’s 155 mm x 52 calibre advanced towed artillery gun test fired successfully

    • DRDO successfully conducted the proof firing of armament system for 155 mm x 52 calibre Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS)

      GM Harika Dronavalli wins Fide Women’s Grand Prix trophy in China

      • India's Grand Master Harika Dronavalli has won the Fide Women’s Grand Prix trophy in Chendu in China. 
      • She was playing with white against Russia's Olga Girya. It has taken long to much-needed draw to win the title, her maiden career GP title
