World Bank, ISA sign agreement for promoting Solar Energy

World Bank signed an agreement with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), to provide $1 billion support to Indian solar energy projects

Agreement Signed by: The agreement was signed for India by Arun Jaitley ( Minister of Finance of India) and Piyush Goyal (Union Power Minister) and World Bank group president Jim Yong Kim.
Project that will help from this agreement: Solar rooftop technology, Infrastructure for solar parks, Bringing innovative solar and hybrid technologies to market and transmission lines for solar-rich states

Besides this The World Bank also signed an agreement to provide $625 million dollars to India's grid-connected rooftop solar programmme, which will finance at least 400 MW of solar photovoltaic installations.

About International Solar Alliance (ISA):

• ISA was launched at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande
• Through ISA, India aims to collaborate with global agencies and mobilize around $1 trillion of investment in solar energy by 2030
• ISA comprising of 121 Countries
• Headquarter of ISA: Gurgaon(Haryana), India
